Occasionally, special funding is available for financial assistance to Union Station attractions for qualifying school groups. Interested school groups may submit a specific request through this electronic application: Application Request
Limited bus transportation money for field trips to Science City is available to schools in the bi-state region Jackson, Clay and Platte Counties in Missouri; Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. The funds need to be requested when reserving your field trip.

Science City on the Road
Invite Science City to your school or community event! These interactive science demonstrations and workshops stimulate interest and introduce basic science concepts in entertaining and memorable ways. Educators may request written descriptions of the standard science vocabulary and concepts. Our educators can work with you to adapt programs to your specific theme.
Rates & Fees
Standard Fee: $200 per show, workshop, demo, or program. Additional performances of the same program on the same day at the same location are only $150 more. No mileage fees are assessed for locations within 30 miles of Union Station KC. Union Station administrative staff will calculate the distance between Union Station and the event location using navigational software. The chart below outlines distance surcharges:
- 31-50 miles: $60
- 51-75 miles: $120
- 76-100 miles $180
