Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with three years of non-profit experience at the senior level.

Duties

One full-time position available. Accountant position with main emphasis on accounts payable. Compile and analyze financial information, prepare journal entries, ensure timely processing of invoices and other accounting transactions, prepare basic data for financial statements, and provide data to auditors as needed.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelors degree with a minimum of two years related accounting/accounts payable experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in non-profit, retail and/or restaurant accounting preferred. Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

 

Position

Cashier for Bodies Revealed

Department

Duties

5 Full-time/temporary and 2 part-time temporary positions to sell tickets to Union Station attractions, focusing on the Bodies Revealed exhibit. Positions begin immediately and end May 14, 2007. Duties include selling tickets, cashiering for retail locations, answering guest questions and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

Requires excellent customer services skills and cash handling experience. Knowledge of computers strongly preferred. Requires flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

One full-time position available. Prepares meals is responsible for food presentation at Harvey House, assists in food preparation and is responsible for maintaining a sanitary work station. Works closely with staff to ensure high quality food is served at all times.

Custodial Engineer

Department

Building Operations

Duties

Full and part time positions available. Keep building and tenant spaces clean and in orderly condition by cleaning spaces, polishing floors, replenishing supplies, painting, and performing other related maintenance activities. Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

Supervisor, Custodial Engineer

Requirements

Requires the ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds, stand for long periods at a time and walk long distances.

Duties

One full time position available. Manage staff, consultants and strategic partners to identify and interpret content as it relates to wide range of fields associated with the exhibitions and collections of Union Station. Coordinate concepts for the connections between the exhibits and programs. Guide and monitor the process to ensure that complex ideas for informal museum education for both traditional and non-traditional audiences. Responsible for the review and final approval for tone correctness of content for each exhibition and programs. Assist with the developmental on interactive activities. Coordinate training and support for staff and volunteers to ensure quality and integrity of offerings. Represent USKC by joining a variety of local and regional science and technology association order to establish strategic partnership.

Requirements

5-7 years in planning and budget management, including experience managing professionals with creative duties and responsibilities. Strong background in physical science field, or equivalent work experience: MA required, PHD preferred.

Exhibit Specialist: Preparator

Department

Duties

Assist with the development, installation, and maintenance of exhibitions at the Kansas City Museum and Union Station. Provide technical and design support, handle and install artifacts, install light fixtures, and maintain/construct/prepare exhibit spaces.

Historic House Director

Requirements

Requires a Bachelors degree with three years of related experience. Requires valid driver’s license, ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds, and ability to excel in a museum environment. Chauffer and forklift licenses preferred.

Harvey House Diner

Duties

Manages the daily operations of Harvey House Diner. Duties include opening and closing, food service bookkeeping, inventory, adherence and enforcement of policies and standards, supervision and training of staff, and auditing/submitting payroll.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years related experience in a supervisory role. Knowledge of food and beverage procedures and a strong understanding of cost control also required.

Duties

Full-time/temporary and part-time/temporary positions for Bodies Revealed Positions begin immediately and ends Fall of 2008. Duties include answering phones, scheduling group bookings and telephone ticket sales, including initial inquiry, confirmation, payment and fulfillment focusing on Bodies Revealed ticket sales.

Lead Reservationist

Requirements

Requires one year customer service experience and excellent communication, telephone, decision-making, and computer skills. Requires flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays

 

Part Time Positions


Position

Server/Bartender

Department

Harvey House/Union Cafe

Duties

Part-time positions available. Serve food and beverage to Union Cafe patrons, while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Reports To

Supervisor

Requirements

Requires previous serving, bartending and cash-handling experience. Liquor license required.
