We’ll also support your planning team as all the details come together for your successful meeting, reception, gala, trade show, or special event. Historic Union Station is the perfect location for all of life’s events.
Note: Only battery-operated LED candles are permitted. Open flame is strictly prohibited in our historic building.

Yes, Union Station offers multiple spaces and venues—from large to small—for private and public events. With nearly 1 million square feet of historic and modern enclosed space on our massive downtown campus, we can accommodate nearly any request. As well, we offer stunning outdoor spaces for rent to host festivals, corporate events, private parties and gatherings of all sizes and varieties.
As one of Kansas City’s most popular destinations, Union Station welcomes over 400 events annually and we’d love discussing your particular needs.
Yes, but keep in mind there are several factors that go into event rental pricing, including various available accommodations within each space. Also remember there are fees for additional services, including food and beverage, audio/visual, etc.

Yes, you can check basic venue availability on our website. Within that tool, you can also place a temporary hold on a venue space for at least 48 hours, which allows our Events Team to connect with you, answer questions, and complete your hold.
Each event space includes different basic amenities. For example, some of our venues have built-in audiovisual, while others require that equipment be rented from an outside vendor. We understand how important it is to stay connected, so Union Station offers complimentary access to high-speed internet throughout the entire station, including all rental venues.
Dedicated or secure Wi-Fi or hardline access is available upon request and for a reasonable fee.
Union Station does not provide in-house catering. Brancato’s Catering is our exclusive catering vendor. Food trucks are another option that can be booked through Union Station’s Events Team.
We require a certificate of Insurance listing Union Station as an additional insured: GL/Umbrella $1M total limits, Workers Comp – Statutory and Auto Liability – Statutory
Our four-level parking garage with available overnight parking is on the west side of Union Station. Parking vouchers for your guests can be purchased in advance for $5.00 per car, or $2,500.00 for the full day.
We want you to have a wildly successful event at Union Station, and our exclusive caterer, Brancato’s Catering is equipped to handle all your needs across all of our venues. If you have additional questions about the menu options or have special dietary needs or restrictions, please email our events team at [email protected].
Union Station has tables and chairs which are generally provided with venue rentals. Our inventory, however, is not limitless, so if additional tables and chairs are needed, they will need to be rented through our exclusive vendor, Marquee. Union Station does not provide table linens for events. Your linens will need to be rented through Brancato’s Catering or any vendor approved by the Union Station Events Team.
Set-up and tear-down time can vary depending on the total number of events happening simultaneously at Union Station. The standard time for set-up, however, is 4 hours. Tear-down is 2 hours. For situations in which other events are not scheduled immediately before, during, or after your event, those times may be stretched.
Actually, very little. What you intend to keep will need to be taken with you. We are not responsible for storing or securing your materials, decorations, or belongings. We include basic custodial services in your venue rental package and your catering vendor will clean up after themselves, so you and your guests can enjoy a stress-free evening from beginning to end.
